AtKM Progress Post 02

Well. As you can see, I've made a bit of progress. Still not with any of the harder stuff like music and animations -- which I have literally not touched a thing for, outside of the RTP -- but I have managed to get a smidgen farther in the progression of the game, as well as actually figuring out a more concrete idea of the plot.

I'm having trouble with my Custom Menu that I'm using by albertfish, however, that I haven't been able to figure out how to fix. I just found it last night, though, so I'm going to give it a few more plays and take note of exactly what's causing it to malfunction before I post a help thread over on the forum that I'm a new member of, gdunlimited. I'd like to not be that new kid that hops on and just asks for help because she can't figure out how to manipulate a code that someone else wrote. This is what it's doing sometimes after you close a menu, if anyone stumbles upon this and happens to know what's going on with it...

In good progress, however, I've made a lantern that is selectable for caves where it's obviously going to be dark. I've also made a bit of a cave, hence the lantern. I have started the first two screens of what I expect is going to be a 5-6 screen mountain range and already want to destroy things because omg mountains are frustrating. I've also started the bit of the game where you can branch off and go your own way, if you so desire, and maybe attempt to do things out of order, rather than having to be guided from point-to-point like at the beginning. Think Link to the Past, when you can get the three pendants / seven crystals in whichever  order... Minus not being able to complete temples without certain items and such. Similar idea.

Did my first real play-through of what I have done so far. Came back with three full pages of things to be fixed. From everything as minor as mapping things [a missing stump, no corners on a mountain, etc.] to things like leaving a house teleporting you halfway across the map and getting stuck in a move route, or not being able to move after resting at the Inn. I've managed to fix most of them, but need to look into how to script something to remember your target in battle, a more obvious alert when you level up after battle, and, of course... The menu bug.

Lastly, in good-sister RMXP news, I taught my brother how to make sprites today in GIMP, as well as taught him to event-code things with simple animations, like doors and chests. His game looks awesome already, just because of the custom MC sprite. I should get on that for my game... xP
